Research to Support Frenectomy (Tongue Tie Release)

a local facebook group thread has me wanting to compile a list of helpful research articles and resources for those in the information seeking phase of deciding to release or not. Not all providers are created equal and not all ties need to be released, but there is a significant amount of research to back up the procedure if it is warranted, you and your release provider, therapist, and lactation provider are all in agreement — though it is truly up to you as the parent to determine if the procedure and timing are what is best for you and your baby.

Peruse the research below and also know that the release is just one piece of the puzzle and may not be the main contributor to baby’s feeding difficulties. This is why a full functional assessment and whole body focused therapy is critical to support baby’s overall growth and development when it comes to feeding, sleeping, breathing, and moving!
